UNIQUE RACES TO RUN

Fun, unique races to run that add a little extra fun for you

Spartan is more than a race; it’s a way of life. We believe that you can’t have a strong body without a strong mind, that you can’t grow without pressure, that obstacles help shift our frame of reference and make us more resilient. We believe that signing up for a race holds us accountable and keeps us motivated to train harder and eat healthier. With more than 200 events in over 30 countries, there’s no excuse not to take the first step.

UNIQUE RACES TO RUN

The movie producers must have been runners, because the distance between the former Higbee’s Department Store and the A Christmas Story House & Museum is about 5K. Ralphie’s dad, The Old Man must have used the 1938 Oldsmobile to track the distance – No GPS in the 1940’s!  To accommodate both movie locations that made this race famous, the distance for the races are approximate, and perhaps a little shorter or longer.

Come join us at 9:00 A.M. on December 1st as we take you back down Memory Lane to the movie set locations that made this movie famous.  Dress up like Ralphie, run in a Leg Lamp Costume or jog in the Bunny Suit that Aunt Clara gave Ralphie for Christmas!   This race attracts serious runners, everyday runners and walkers alike!  We are family friendly and hope to add to your Christmas spirit during the holiday season.

The 5K will run to the A Christmas Story House & Museum. The 10K will run to the House and back to the original starting area at Public Square.  For the 5K runners we are bringing you right back to the center of Cleveland, in front of the old HIGBEES building where the movie was filmed.

CUPID’S CHARITY IS ON A MISSION TO FIND A CURE FOR NEUROFIBROMATOSIS.
We fund research for neurofibromatosis, or ‘NF,’ a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and affects 1 in every 3,000 births. Currently, there is no cure, but together with our loyal community of supporters, we’re on a mission to change that.
We work in alliance with our partner, the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF), a 4-star rated charity, and the world’s leader in NF research. Since our start in 2010, our support has helped CTF generate 116 preclinical studies which have led to 16 clinical trials. One of those trials resulted in more than 70% of participants seeing their tumors shrink by 20 to 50%.

sandmine challenge.png

An amazing adventure where you run through an abandoned sandmine while avoiding obstacles! CNN called it one of the 10 Ultimate U.S. Adventures. Run around the underground! If you're looking for a new running adventure, then the SpeRUNking Sandmine Challenge is the event for you. The 3-mile(ish) obstacled course is entirely within the 56º Crystal City sand mine, which has 30 to 40 foot ceilings, sand dunes, and a huge underground lake. The course is on a sand surface; some wet, some dry. You will crawl, climb, wade, balance, & jump through various obstacles. We strongly suggest a headlamp for the race & shoes that can get wet! This approximate 3 mile run will be like no other event you've ever done. SpeRUNking! has been featured in CNN's Top 10 U.S. Adventures.

A quintessential San Francisco experience since 1912, the race is interwoven into the fabric of the city and is a true reflection and celebration of life between the breakers and the Bay. Start point at San Francisco Bay, blocks from The Embarcadero, running west through the city. Finishing at the Great Highway where breakers crash onto the Pacific Coast’s Ocean Beach.
