Better when you get it from the source

If you haven’t spent a Saturday afternoon on the rooftop w @djsparkbox & the Revelry crew, you should! It’s something special full of good vibes and even better people. So much fun at Revelry! Beautiful rooftop, excellent beer selection and a yummy food truck that was serving solid Asian-fusion delights! The tacos were delicious and service was very friendly.

Carolina Bauernhaus™ is a farmhouse brewery and winery located in Anderson, SC. Our award winning hand crafted ales and ciders pay homage to the rich agricultural resources of Upstate South Carolina by using locally sourced malt, grains, yeast, hops and fruits. While our brewing techniques may be Belgian inspired, our beers are by no means reverent to tradition. From Carolina Bauernhaus’ taproom and pilot system in downtown Anderson SC to our production brewery on a working farm just outside of Anderson, we will strive to create a family of unique beers that range from traditional pale ales to approachable saisons and New England IPA’s to challenging barrel aged sour beers.

We make craft beer with a throwback approach. Through a combination of time-tested brewing/blending methods and modern practices, we create beer that is complex, thought-provoking, and above all delicious.  We focus on Farmhouse and Saisons, with a passion for unique sours, funky IPAs, barrel-aged brews, and range of wild and traditional styles. With each barrel, puncheon, and foudre, our beers develop their own sassiness – their own mind. We like to say “we don’t make beer, we wait for the beer to tell us what it wants to be”.

Welcome to Georgetown Brewing Company, an independently owned Seattle craft brewery and maker of Manny's Pale Ale. In May of 2017, after 14 years selling beer, we went from a draft-only production facility to canning select full-time beers (hey, we always said “never say never”). Sorry, still no brewpub, but we do have a retail shop where you can pick up kegs to go, growlers, cans and perhaps get a taste of our newest beer. Or you could be social and get out to your favorite local watering hole. The only thing that hasn’t changed, we’re still focused on one thing…brewing darn tasty beer.

The 20,000 square foot brewery produces a variety of beers packaged in cans, bottles, and kegs for wide-reaching wholesale. The brewery sports over a dozen EOBC beers on tap and regularly cans a number of offerings. Brewing Director Cameron Read produces an array of beers for both immediate consumption and barrel-aging. The facility includes an area dedicated to extended non-sour or wild barrel-aging, and a sealed area for sour and wild fermentation. EOBC beers are available at the Edmund’s Oast restaurant, as well as other restaurants and bars in Charleston and beyond.

North Charleston

The Holy City story is about a team of four guys dedicated to craft beer and their community, aiming to bring more of one to the other.
Joel Carl (a local) and Sean Nemitz (CofC grad from VT), business partners in Charleston’s rickshaw industry, found themselves less-than-slammed in the winter months. Idle hands are the devil’s playground, so, being good boys, they took up homebrewing.
Soon they had a custom, 15-gallon, all-grain pilot system in their garage. That bad boy – made of used welded bicycle parts, elbow grease, and love – became a central part of the rickshaw garage, and now sits on display in the brewery. Roughly a dozen full-production Holy City offerings are recipes born on that system.

About 43,500 acres

In the uppermost reaches of South Carolina, the clear waters of Lake Jocassee splash against the base of the Blue Ridge Escarpment, a "Blue Wall" of hills that represent the sharp transition between our Carolina Mountains and Piedmont. Here forested slopes drop in elevation by 2,000 vertical feet in a matter of one to two miles.
Picture from Caesar's Head look out pointThis steep forested condition represents the Escarpment's general character throughout its length in Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia. Around Lake Jocassee (from the South Carolina/Georgia line eastward to Jones Gap State Park), however, a series of steep-sided gorges carrying surging mountain rivers and streams down to the Piedmont has cut the generally uniform sloping face of the Escarpment. These gorges together are known as the Jocassee Gorges

South Carolina’s own “grand canyon” is located in the Upstate and called the Jocassee Gorges.  Nestled along the Blue Ridge Escarpment, the Jocassee Gorges tract includes about 43,500 acres that extends from the upstate of South Carolina into North Carolina.  What makes the Gorges different? A series of quickly dropping vertical walls in the mountains have been carved out over time by rushing mountain waters, leaving vertical drops of as much as 2,000 feet in as little as one mile.

If you were driving on the interstate or a main highway in South Carolina and passed a golden yellow field full of sunflowers it would be hard to miss. But this annual sunflower field in the Palmetto State is off the beaten path and unless you’ve been there before, chances are good you probably don’t even know it’s there.  The magical sunflower field is located in Marietta along the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. But before you start making plans, the photos that follow are from previous years.

217,000 acres of the South Carolina's Coastal Plain

Donnelley WMA, Bear Island WMA, the National Estuarine Research Reserve, the Hollings NWF and several smaller tracts offer visitors many opportunities to enjoy the unique ACE Basin.

Murrells Inlet

A sweeping Grand Strand beach, pristine and wide open, stands as one of the most recognizable South Carolina landmarks. Revel in sea-breeze camping, the finest surf fishing South Carolina has to offer and some of the top bird-watching on the East Coast. That’s not all Huntington Beach State Park has to offer.
There are also South Carolina landmarks such as Atalaya, the picturesque, Moorish-style winter home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, philanthropist and sculptor, respectively, who left the park and adjacent Brookgreen Gardens as their legacy.
Nature lovers also will enjoy the park’s wide variety of programming, including the chance to see loggerhead turtles and other endangered plant and animal species up close. The park’s freshwater lake is a sure-fire place to see alligators and sometimes even a mink or two.

A granitic gneiss outcropping atop the dramatic Blue Ridge Escarpment gives Caesars Head State Park its name. Every fall, from the easily-accessible overlook atop the rocky peak of the Blue Ridge Escarpment, sight-seers are treated to the Hawk Watch program and a spectacular view that extends into North Carolina and Georgia.
Caesars Head connects to Jones Gap State Park in what is known as the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, an 13,000-acre area of pristine southern mountain forest. Hikers can take a number of loop and traverse hiking trails that connect the parks, and trailside camping is available for those who choose the longer routes.
One of the most popular trails at Caesars Head is the four-mile, round trip Raven Cliff Falls trail. This hiking trail leads to the scenic overlook, where you can view the 420-foot Raven Cliff Falls. There is also a 6.6 mile round trip hike to a suspension bridge that crosses the creek above Raven Cliff Falls. The bridge offers a unique view of the falls as they plunge deep into the mountain cove below.
